Organic Robbers

And no, I don't mean thieves who harvest people for organs.

Went to a farmer's market nearby today...it was a ton of fun! Tho prices were ridonkulously expensive. "Organic" cucumbers going for 2 bucks a piece. A dozen "organic" eggs for five bucks. "Organic" duck breast for 12 bucks a piece. (What ARE organic ducks? Were they ever inorganic? Someone please explain to me.) I'm honestly not quite sure if all this organic crap worth draining my bank account for lol. One thing Jersey is big on,it's organic food.

The market was rather small, but there was a good amount of things to look at and there was live music. Though it was drizzling, it was still a fairly crowded affair. My roomie and I had fun poking around at each tent, looking around, drooling at fresh fresh produce and confectioneries . I caved in and bought a bag of cider donuts. YUMZ!

Many of the vendors were selling fresh flowers. I was so tempted to buy some because they looked so happifying. I especially loved the sunflowers.

Aren't they pretty?

They were also selling other flowers in a bunch in a myriad of colors...pinks, purples, blue. I thought it would be lovely to have a bunch of fresh flowers on our kitchen table. What stopped me was the fact that our kitchen is perpetually messy anyways. Sticking flowers in the middle of mess is just going to add more to the mess.

Fruits fruits galore! Peaches, cherries and I still don't know what the green thing is. It looked like a green peach, but the flesh was red. I asked the vendor what it was and I heard something like "plumzilla". Still remains a mystery to me.

There was also a vendor selling candles, soaps and whatnot.

I was especially intrigued by this:
It's homemade soap wrapped in llama fur! So the fur acts as a washcloth and as the soap gradually diminishes the whole thing will gradually shrink down to a small little furry ball. I would have been tempted to try it, but it was 15 bucks. Daylight robbery!!! I might as well just buy a cheap bar soap from the store, wrap my hair around it and sell it for 20 bucks. (Just kidding)

My verdict on the farmer's market: Fun, but overrated. Also, prices=legal robbery.

Omnomznomz

During my most recent trip to Rocky Point, I had the opportunity to sample some very delightful food from some of the local vendors. Though I have been to Rocky Point twice before this, I have always been wary about trusting the hygienic level of their food preparation process. After all, Mexico isn't exactly famous for "clean". (but then, it's not as though it's any different from the cockroaches at a mamak. No cockroach or dirt=not a mamak).

That reputation, doubled with my unfortunate experience with a certain taco stand (being stuck in a toilet WITH NO DOORS AND NO TOILET PAPER AND NO SOAP in the middle of the desert is no fun) has made me extremely selective with what I put in my mouth whenever I'm down there. Despite coming from a third world country with a supposedly trained stomach of steel, I was no match for Mexico. Mamak training, you have failed me.

But..but! How could I resist this?

Before:After:
FRESH clams, served with Clamato and pico de gallo and lime juice.

Fish ceviche served on a tostada. Habanero sauce on top! OMG best evar! I've always wanted to try ceviche, and man, this WOULD be worth getting the runs for lol. I went back and got another. Onry one dorrah!

And oooh, what is this?

Slicing the mango skin...
Pouring chilli flakes on it!

End result:
Mango on a stick! + Monster devouring mango.

Yummmmz...life is good where there is food and travel.

  • Same pair of legs
  • Beach
Differences:
  • One taken at sunset, one at high noon
  • Different countries
Both beautiful in my eyes.:) I love making new memories. Here's to more beer/beach pictures!

Gwailo bercakap Melayu?

Aih..kesiannya saya.

New year, new changes?

The year kicked off a little on the slow side, but now things are zooming up with some major changes in my life. Well, most of you know what the changes are already. So, recap la:

Change #1:Moving to Jersey for six months!

Sexcited because:
  • Living in a different state besides AZ! Sorry PHX, you've been my home for almost 7 years, but I am ready for something new!
  • Experiencing snow!
  • I'm right outside NYC, baby!
  • Gaining job experience and valuable training
  • Meeting new peeps!
Change #2: New boyfriend(yalah, most of you know already)

Sexcited because:
  • Well, we just hit the 4 month-mark. That is something new. Haven't had a decent relationship that lasted more than 3 month at a time for the past three years.
  • I like his Xbox. Left For Dead is awesomez.
So there is a little of scared+happy+excited and something strangely absent in my life for a long time...hope. :) I hope this is the beginning of my 'happy' cycle.
